Red Shoe Walk 2021

Jun 01, 2021 - Sep 30, 2021

Join My Friendís House virtual Red Shoe Walk 2021 to end gender-based violence and discrimination.

September 20th -30th, 2021

My Friendís House annual awareness-raising event, Walk A Mile in Her Shoes, is now known as the virtual Red Shoe Walk! Step out with a pair of red heels that symbolize your commitment to end violence against women and virtually walk with other men across Southern Georgian Bay.

Participants can walk anytime during the month of September and share their experience on social media using #RedShoeWalk, thus showing their support in ending gender-based violence.

Over the past year, the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic heightened the magnitude of inequality women continually face from increased rates of domestic abuse to sexual violence and harassment within and outside the home.

Overall, 2020 was a year that alerted us to the necessity of overdue change.

With this yearís walk taking place virtually through the month of September, participants will be able to complete their mile anywhere they choose! My Friendís Houseís goal is to attract more than 100 participants to walk in solidarity with women and their children, while raising awareness and funds to end violence, promote equality, healthy relationships, and a true vision of masculinity. It is a momentous occasion for men to make a statement that violence against women is not only a women's issue - it's everyone's issue, and it will only be solved by everyone working together.

About My Friendís House

My Friend's House is a non-profit agency offering support for abused women and children living in Southern Georgian Bay. Since opening in 1991, My Friend's House has helped thousands of women get the safety and support they need to rebuild their lives.

We serve 600 women and their children each year Ė 200 through our Shelter Program and the balance through our Outreach, Transition and Children's Programs.

Our free, confidential services are available to all women and their children across the Southern Georgian Bay region Ė from Wasaga Beach and Collingwood to Clearview to The Blue Mountains and Meaford and all parts in between.

"For the first time in years, I had a decent night's sleep. Finally, we didn't have to worry about the ranting and raging and violent abuse from my husband."

My Friendís House must raise over $450,000.00 this year to provide programs and shelter to women fleeing domestic abuse in our community.
